Aedes albopictus mosquito is an opportunistic blood feeder and has a broad host range. The feeding behavior and habits of this mosquito are liable to increase the transmission potential of arboviruses. The survival and fecundity in A. albopictus fed on different hosts and post-blood meal provision of sugar were investigated in a laboratory-reared colony. Adult survival of caged female A. albopictus that were fed on blood of two different hosts (double meal) was higher than the females fed only on one host (single meal) (mean survival: 70.2 ± 9.6 vs. 55.5 ± 5.5%, respectively) when held in the laboratory for 72 h after blood feeding. Mean survival of females provided 10% sucrose solution (in water) after a single or double blood meal was higher (90.5 ± 6.4% and 89.3 ± 6.5%, respectively) than in the respective groups receiving water only following blood feeding (double meal: 49.0 ± 9.6%; single meal: 45.3 ± 10.9%). Females receiving a double meal were more fecund on average (89.0 ± 6.6 eggs) than females provided a single meal (82.3 ± 8.2 eggs). 相似文献

The present study demonstrates that the endosymbiont of Crithidia deanei influences the expression of surface gp63 molecules. Ultrastructural immunocytochemical analysis shows the presence of the gp63-like protein in the protozoan flagellum and flagellar pocket, either attached to shed membranes or in a free form. This molecule is glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchored to the plasma membrane as demonstrated by phospholipase C (PLC) treatment and cross-reacting determinant detection by immunoblotting. The gp63 molecule mediates the adhesive process of the protozoan to Aedes aegypti explanted guts, since the binding was reduced by pre-incubating the C. deanei parasites (wild and aposymbiotic strains) with anti-gp63 antibodies, PLC or PLC followed by anti-gp63 antibodies incubation. In addition, the number of wild C. deanei bound to A. aegypti explanted guts was twice as that of aposymbiotic parasites. Flow cytometry assays revealed that the reactivity of the wild strain with anti-gp63 antibodies was approximately twice as that of the aposymbiotic strain. We may conclude that higher expression of surface gp63 by the wild strain of C. deanei may positively influence this interaction, posing a prominent advantage for the endosymbiont-containing trypanosomatids. 相似文献

根据已获得的白纹伊蚊CYP6家族某成员cDNA序列片段AEDR ,设计基因特异性引物 ,以白纹伊蚊总RNA为模板 ,进行cDNA末端快速扩增 ,扩增产物经T -A克隆、测序。结果显示 :通过 5’ RACE获得 1个非全长cDNA序列 (GZS331 ) ,其与CYP6N1、CYP6N2的同源性分别为 59 8%和 59 1 % ,与CYP6N3v1 -v3同源性最高 ,达 83 9% - 84 3% ;通过 3’ RACE获得 6个非全长cDNA序列 ,其中来自抗性株的GZG0 33序列与CYP6N3v1 -v3的同源性达 98 2 % - 99 1 % ,而其余 3’ RACE克隆与CYP6N3v1 -v3的同源性则达 84 3% - 85 6%。上述所有非全长cDNA序列均与哺乳动物CYP3A1以及夜蛾CYP9A1有较高的同源性 ,分别为 2 3% - 36 1 %和 2 7 6% - 34 1 %。用PC/GENE软件所绘制的系统树显示出与同源性分析相一致的结果。所得非全长cDNA序列上报国际P450命名委员会进行统一的命名 ,并对蚊虫中细胞色素P450基因多样性及其形成原因进行了分析 相似文献

The larvicidal effects of polyphenols of natural crude decomposed alder leaf litter and commercially available tannic acid were experimentally compared with those of two common conventional insecticides (Bacillus thuringiensis ssp. israelensis: microbial insecticide; temephos: organophosphate insecticide). Comparative standard bioassays using third instar larval Aedes aegypti, A. albopictus, Culex pipiens and Coquillettidia richiardii as references indicated that Aedes and Culex taxa are far more sensitive to alder leaf litter than to tannic acid and conventional insecticides. C. richiardii is far more resistant to conventional insecticides than Aedes and Culex taxa, but its sensitivity to tannic acid is close to that of those taxa. Dietary vegetable polyphenols are thus proposed as new, practical, alternative chemicals for mosquito control when conventional insecticides are difficult and costly to be used (e.g., in the management of Aedes and Culex populations in man-made breeding sites and Coquillettidia control strategy). 相似文献

以Balb/C小鼠为实验动物,探讨了埃及伊蚊Aedes aegypti唾液对登革病毒感染宿主的影响。结果显示,在皮下接种剂量相同的情况下,如果Balb/C实验小鼠预先被一定数量的埃及伊蚊叮咬以后,实验小鼠感染病毒的程度有所提高,血清中的抗体滴度明显降低,腹腔巨噬细胞感染登革病毒的阳性率及感染的时间动态曲线也有明显差异,感染高峰期延迟。这些说明实验小鼠被媒介蚊虫叮咬以后变得相对容易被登革病毒感染,可能是媒介蚊虫叮咬小鼠时分泌的唾液对宿主的免疫反应系统有一定作用。因此可以初步肯定埃及伊蚊在登革病毒的感染传播过程中,影响了Balb/C实验小鼠的免疫功能,对登革病毒的感染有一定推动作用。 相似文献

We tested for facultative changes in behavior of an aquaticinsect in response to cues from predation and for evolutionof prey behavior in response to experimental predation regimes.Larvae of the tree hole mosquito Aedes triseriatus reducedfiltering, browsing, and time below the surface in responseto water that had held a feeding larva of the predator Toxorhynchitesrutilus. We subjected experimental A. triseriatus populationsto culling of 50% of the larval population, either by T. rutiluspredation or by random removal. After two generations of laboratoryculling, behavior of the two treatment groups diverged. Aedestriseriatus in control-culled lines retained their facultativeshift from filtering to resting, but tended to lose the response
of reduced browsing below the surface in water that had helda feeding predator. Predator-culled lines lost their facultativeresponse of reduced filtering in water that had held a feedingpredator and evolved toward more time resting and less timefiltering in both water that had held a feeding predator andwater that had held only A. triseriatus. Predator-culled linesretained their facultative response of reduced browsing belowthe surface in water that had held a feeding predator. Twofield populations and their reciprocal hybrids responded similarlyto cues from predation and did not differ in their evolutionaryresponse to experimental culling. Abstract Tadpoles and mosquito larvae often coexist in natural freshwater bodies. We studied competitive interactions between: (i) tadpoles of the striped marsh frog (Limnodynastes peronii) and larvae of the mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus; and (ii) tadpoles of the common eastern froglet (Crinia signifera) and larvae of the mosquito Aedes australis. These two sets of taxa occur in natural water bodies in the Sydney region. Laboratory trials revealed competition between mosquito larvae and tadpoles in both systems. For example, mosquitoes displayed reduced rates of survival, growth and development, and smaller size at metamorphosis, when they were raised with tadpoles. The intensity of competitive suppression was influenced by attributes such as pond size (and hence, larval density), the location of food (on the water surface vs the substrate), and the extent of opportunities for direct physical interactions between the two competing organisms. These effects differed between the two study systems, suggesting that the mechanisms of suppression also differed. Limnodynastes peronii tadpoles suppressed C. quinquefasciatus even when the two types of organisms were separated by a physical partition, suggesting that chemical or microbiological cues may be responsible. Pond attributes also affected the impact of C. signifera tadpoles on Aedes larvae, but (unlike the Limnodynastes–Culex system) these effects disappeared when densities were lowered or when the tadpoles and mosquito larvae were physically separated. Thus, direct physical interactions may suppress mosquitoes in the Crinia–Aedes system. Our results suggest that tadpoles suppress the viability of larval mosquitoes by multiple pathways. 相似文献

Invasive Aedes mosquito species (Diptera: Culicidae) are of public health concern in Europe because they are either recognized or potential vectors of pathogens. Loop‐mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is a rapid and simple method for amplifying DNA with high specificity and efficiency, with the technique having potential for application in the field, including in high‐throughput format. Specific LAMP assays based on rDNA internal transcribed spacers 1 or 2 sequences, considering intraspecies variability at these loci, were developed for Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus, Aedes japonicus, Aedes koreicus and the indigenous Aedes geniculatus. No such assays could be developed for Aedes atropalpus and Aedes triseriatus because both loci were too short to serve as target. The assays rely on the clearly visible colour change from violet to sky blue after successful amplification. Sensitivity of egg detection was confirmed with ratios of up to one mosquito egg in 99 other eggs. Simple sample preparation of adults or eggs by mechanical homogenization in water required an additional heat treatment or centrifugation step to avoid non‐specific colour changes. Thus, further technical improvements are needed to render these assays truly field‐applicable, which would greatly facilitate surveillance of these invasive mosquito species and allow for prompt implementation of control measures. 相似文献

Mosquito‐borne diseases resulting from the expansion of two key vectors, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus (Diptera: Culicidae), continue to challenge whole regions and continents around the globe. In recent years there have been human cases of disease associated with Chikungunya, dengue and Zika viruses. In Europe, the expansion of Ae. albopictus has resulted in local transmission of Chikungunya and dengue viruses. This paper considers the risk that Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus represent for the U.K. and details the results of mosquito surveillance activities. Surveillance was conducted at 34 points of entry, 12 sites serving vehicular traffic and two sites of used tyre importers. The most common native mosquito recorded was Culex pipiens s.l. (Diptera: Culicidae). The invasive mosquito Ae. albopictus was detected on three occasions in southern England (September 2016, July 2017 and July 2018) and subsequent control strategies were conducted. These latest surveillance results demonstrate ongoing incursions of Ae. albopictus into the U.K. via ground vehicular traffic, which can be expected to continue and increase as populations in nearby countries expand, particularly in France, which is the main source of ex‐continental traffic. 相似文献
